Map generators on progress
More and more ideas are coming to my mind and the development crawls slowly but yesterday i made some good things for the maps. The console size will be 80x25 characters so it can be played at win98 finally( are there still users with win98? ) and "camera" focus in the area of the hero, areas now are only 15x15 tiles and are linked so good like a continious map :)
I was also wandering... do you want me to make a small rl just for a little game fun, or are you patient for the "GREAT" game?

Although I'm patient for a great game, it's also fun to have playable 'incomplete' versions, sort of like how Dwarf Fortress (http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/) is only in alpha but still fun to play.
I would say focus mostly on the long-term big game, but try to keep things playable, so you can release incomplete versions regularly and get feedback. Most people find getting that sort of feedback makes it easier for them to keep working on their game, too, I think...
Great news about the continious map, in any case. I always thought that was something Papaki needed.

So you suggest me to release test versions just like the past instead of making a another coffe break one.
I'll try to have something the next month.
Thanx

Don't bother converting the display to 80x25. The large screen looks great, and writing games for Win98 is like writing games for a Mac; it's really not necessary. Besides, Vista is out now. I'd worry more about being compatible with that.

I can't wait until an alpha version comes out.
Vasilis your blog looks great under Linux.
I think you should consider making papaki to support linux too.

gamer_24k i think youre right about that, most people could be able to play at console with 50 lines, but I will keep 25 so later it will be very easy to increase it, rathen than oposite.

I don't see why Win98 can't display what's currently used in papaki, it must be your program and not the OS.
Anyway as is it seems I can't play it as I can't get it to display properly.
